Hey everyone, I’m Nick. I am a junior in high school in NYC.
My assigned star is Alpheratz, which is actually a binary star system. The two stars are so close that they appear as a singular star to the naked eye (visual magnitude +2.06). The system is located in the constellation of Andromeda, and the primary star’s atmospheric chemical composition contains unusually high amounts of mercury and manganese (it is the brightest known mercury-manganese star).
